[From Bruce Gregory (2003.12.03.2108)]
Anyone who has spent any time on CSGnet knows that there are two
Richard Markens, Good Rick and Bad Rick. A typical post from Good Rick
is the one Re: Gibson J.J. ?
Rick Marken (2003.12.03.1030)]
Good Rick is always helpful and informative. Good Rick writes all the
Marken papers.
Bad Rick is the opposite of Good Rick. He is sarcastic and most
unhelpful. A recent post by Bad Rick is Re: Awareness

One of the things that makes CSGnet interesting is that you never know
which Rick will respond to a post.

Bruce G,
You say,
Anyone who has spent any time on CSGnet knows that there are two
Richard Markens, Good Rick and Bad Rick. A typical post from Good Rick
is the one Re: Gibson J.J. ?
I quite agree with your observation. I found Rick's explaination of the merits and failings of Gibson's work provided me with just the information I needed.
And, then you say,
One of the things that makes CSGnet interesting is that you never know
which Rick will respond to a post.
I might have choosen another word than "interesting" but I am not sure tonight what word would be suitable. So, I will borrow a few words from Thorstein Veblen, who said,
"All this is simple enough. It is so simple and it is so
obvious that it is difficult to see it until it has
been pointed out, and after it has been pointed out
it seems to have been unnecessary to speak of it."
