Here is a concrete instance of facing a choice as to how to define a
conflict. Rick, you seem to think I still need reassurance that PCT
does not compete with my theory. Meanwhile, I'm aware that I never
ever felt I needed such reassurance, and struck that you are the one
who continues to feel this might be the problem.
I have suggested that in order to apply PCT to the task of controlling
for peace rather than controlling as war, PCT needs to be
complemented, supplemented with a parallel model. Why bother going
outside PCT and complementing it in a larger frame? Because learning
how to use conflict to cool down and harmonize relations rather than
heating them up rests on recognizing we have an alternative open to us
to defining control as PCT does. l&p hal
