Hi all,

could you point or send me what publications (or not published texts) there are about the hierarchical levels of perceptions in Hierarchical Perceptual Control Theory. I mean in addition to B:CP and Wonder Weeks (and this:
PLOOIJ, F. X., & van, d. R. (1990). Developmental transitions as successive reorganizations of a control hierarchy. American Behavioral Scientist, 34(1), 67-80. which I already happened to find and get.)
I am planning an article about the topic.

thx

Hi all,

could you point or send me what publications (or not published texts) there are about the hierarchical levels of perceptions in Hierarchical Perceptual Control Theory.

RM: If you have LCS I, there is a nice early discussion of hierarchical control in the second paper – A General Feedback Theory of Human Behavior: Part II" – which also includes some nifty “portable” demonstrations of several levels of control. In the same book there is a nice discussion of a “possible human hierarchy” in the paper “A Cybernetic Model for Research on Human Development”.Â

RM: Also I have two on-line demos of hierarchical control:Â

https://www.mindreadings.com/ControlDemo/Hierarchy.html

https://www.mindreadings.com/ControlDemo/ProgramControl.html

RM: I also have a couple of papers that use this “reaction time” approach to in order to reveal three hierarchical levels of perceptual control:Â Â

  1. Marken, R. S., Khatib, Z. and  Mansell, W. (2013) Motor Control as the
    Control of Perception, Perceptual and
    Motor Skills
    , 117, 236-247

2)Â Marken,
R. S. (1993) The Hierarchical Behavior of Perception. Closed Loop, 3 (4),  33-54 which is reprinted in my book “MORE MIND READINGS” (https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0970470177/qid=1020522174/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/104-9260679-3100757)

RM: Good luck on the article.Â

BestÂ
