My name is Wolfgang Zocher. Long time ago, I studied physics and
computer sciences; today, I'm working as an adviser on computing
problems in various fields of science. My private interests are
quite different: I'm breeding sheep and I try to help those people
who are involved with drug or alcohol problems - and I love to live
together with my wife Marion in our nice cottage far away from the
city of Hannover.
My way to PCT is a long and winding road. The main points on this way
are the constructivism of v. Glasersfeld and Watzlawick and some
studies in behavioural psychology. The latter was necessary for leading
therapeutic groups of alcoholics.
Accidently reading some articles of the CSG - mailing list, I came in touch
with PCT. I bought Bill's book and after reading it carefully, I immediatly
knew, that all my experiences of life and all my experiences of therapeutic
work are represented in Bill's Perceptual Control Theory:
the behaviour of living beings is controlled by perception.
To do some experiments in PCT, I worked out a little program, called
simcon (simulator of control loops). (with a lot of help from Bill P.)
For my further work, I'll focus my attention on the visual system.
Disorders of smooth eye movement have been reported in many patients
with functional psychoses (schizophrenic, manic-depressiv). The eyes of
maladjusted people (like alcoholics or junkies) are flickering around,
especially in situations of conflict and defence.
This disorder of eye movement is probably the forced up attentional
system of "normal" people or animals.
simcon is still under development. The next version, simcon 4.5, will be
distributed soon.
