I came across the attached fragment from Mary's computer files, something
she worked on for sending to CSGnet but, it seems, never sent. Written in
Nov. 1995 as near as I can place it.
I am appreciating Mary's depth of understanding of PCT, and the breadth of
her ability to relate it to the larger world, more and more as I browse
through her old writings. In many ways her picture was clearer than mine.
Best,

Thanks, Bill; a nice post, agreed. (T-Day = Thanksgiving?) It's
especially
satisfying, having known Mary, to recognize her in her words.
Best,
Mike

Dear Bill,
I must confess I have a folder where I have kept a few quotes from Mary Powers,
too. In the couple of times I met her, I realized that she knew a lot more than
I did about PCT, and that the way in which she demonstrated her knowledge of it
reassured me that PCT was important enough for me to base my research on it.
Thanks!

This is Phil Runkel on 18 March 05 saying thank you to Bill P for sending us Mary's essay on where PCT touches us.
The essay is a gem, and in surprisingly few words. I have made my own copy, and I have a student who is just now wondering about a couple of those points, so I have made a copy for her, too.

Attached is something Mary wrote in 1994. Mary seems to have been working
on many papers, but never showed them to me. Her self-confidence was never
very strong. There are many things I wish I had done. None of them can be
done now.
Best,
Bill P.

Bill friend: Thanks very much for the paper by Mary. Her usual
clarity. And gracious prose. And maintaining the bulwarks. Good to
have. --Phil
