Maybe a belt after all?

[From Rick Marken (960709.1530)

Me to Hans:

I'm Alice. You're Humpty.

...

Answer 2 (for those living in Wonderland): Because I use "one" to mean
whatever I want it to mean. In this case, it meant "two".

Bruce Abbott (960709.1500 EST) --

Are you SURE you're Alice? You certainly SOUND like Humpty . . .

I might have meant "Humpty" when I referred to myself as "Alice",
but, then, maybe not. If Hans and his control engineering cronies can
use "cause", "control", "determine" and "influence" to mean whatever
they want them to mean then I can certainly use words to mean
whatever I want them to mean.

Perhaps you'll be able to figure out what Hans and I are talking about
when you get your own secret decoder ring. It comes in every box of
"Model-based control" cereal, the one with the picture of "Capt.
Feedforward" tripping over Mrs. Feedforward as he makes his way to
the breakfast table in the dark

By the way, Bruce. I'm using your textbook as a reference in the
paper I'm writing for the CSG meeting. The edition I have is 1991.
Is a later edition available?

Thanks

Rick
