Bill P. has model of Memory in his
B:CP that I appreciate high.
When I studied this model the
first times I had problems with the switches and maybe I still have those
problems.
How do I understand Bill’s Memory
model and the switches today?
-
All control loops in the brain function continuous.
Absolutely most of the errors cause no visible actions and I am conscious/aware
of only 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 controls. I
don’t think I manage to be conscious 6 or more controls.
-
Some loops are encapsulated in ordinary
functioning loops where muscles and glands exercise actions. They don’t
send errors to lower level comparators. Different dendrites go different ways.
Some perceptual dendrites bring perceptual signals from lower levels
further to the comparator, some dendrites in the output function don’t
connect a comparator at a lower level, they reconnect the input function. And
some dendrites from the output function connect a comparator at a lower
level. I think this is the same way as Bill P. has presented in his model
except for the switches. I think the switches are represented by our
consciousness and awareness. Also
all control modes, passive observation modes, automatic modes and
imagination modes function continuous. It is our consciousness and
awareness that determine if we are in a control mode or in an
imagination/remembering mode.
- I support these thoughts from experiments. I am exercising such an experiment now
when I look out a window. I will perceive that motorboat crossing the
fjord in front of me. At the same time I see the landscape on the other side
of the fjord as a horizontally belt. I see the sky as field over the
landscape and I se some houses on both sides of the fjord. This is my
experience of my perception. Energy is carried to my cones and rods.
Perceptual signals are part of my control. This is the ordinary control
mode. Now I close my eyes. No energy from the extern world arrives my rods
and cones, but I see the same picture more diffuse. I se the houses, I se
the motorboat and the landscape on the other side of the fjord. No perceptual
signals arrive from my eyes. This is remembering. I open my eyes and get confirmed
that I remembered about the same I perceive with open eyes. I close my
eyes again and I remember the same picture. Now I change the motorboat to
a sailing boat. Now the sailing boat goes about. This is imagination mode.
I open my eyes and see the motorboat and understand I have just imagined
the sailing boat. I close my eyes, open them and close them many times. I
soon perceive a picture and I soon remember/imagine a picture. This is the
reason why I think all control modes, passive observation modes, automatic
modes and imagination modes function continuous. And this is the reason
why I look upon the switches as a result of Consciousness and awareness.
What do
you think? Am I far away from PCT?
