What kind of stuff are you sending, Bill?
By the way, I found a great article relevant to PCT in a recent volume
of the Communications of the ACM (computer journal). Basically, the
article describes how to use side effects of control actions (in
computer games) to collect data relevant to doing computer search,
etc. It looks very cool.
Oh, and of course I'm now putting my money on McCain; not only would
his policies benefit me the most, we'd also have a moderately hot
soccer bimbo a heartbeat away from the presidency, making sure that
the US continues it's tradition of leadership in mediocrity. Saliari
would be proud.

Yikes! I hope that was a false positive. I see no signs of a virus here, and nobody else has told me of a problem. You didn't miss anything -- just a reply to Martin.

It's funny watching both sides going on record as being against hurricanes. McCain should promise to end hurricanes in ten years. He needs something to offset Obama's plans. As someone noted, McCain's choice for VP takes the issue of experience off the table.
Really, how about actually doing that conflict model with variable coupling between the systems. I think there's some kind of law to find by using it.
I can't get used to having the same birthday as McCain. Hope he doesn't have anything catching.

There was an attachment on the copy I received, titled Engine2.exe. It has a name like a PC executable, so I didn't try to do anything with it.

That's probably what was flagged as suspicious. It's a simulation of
an internal combustion engine that I've been working on (just to
learn how to do it). I thought I changed the file extension to .txt
so it would be allowed through, but now I see I didn't. It's written
in Turbo Delphi, the latest version with a free personal edition.
Actually I wrote it in Delphi 7.0, then recompiled it without change
in Turbo Delphi just to see if it would work. It did.
I'm reattaching it with a .txt extension -- let's see if it works.
Sorry. I didn't notice that Rick's message was to CSGnet, but the
folks might as well see the program. Not exactly PCT, of course

Well, the file came through, but I'm not clear how anyone would use it, as it seems to be a binary file. Here's how the beginning of it comes out.

Having read this, I thought I would try the original "engine2.exe" on my Mac running a virtual PC (under VMWare Fusion). It's pretty, but it runs so fast I couldn't really see what's happening until the engine ran out of gas and slowed to a stop. Nice, If there's a free personal edition of Turbo Delphi, I might download it.

It is free. Registering it is a little complicated but I managed to do it. Actually, my registration failed, but it runs fine, anyway. It's actually a limited-time trial version (full function), but the time limit is approximately 99 years. That will see us out.
You can vary the accelerator and brake settings to see it running at slower speeds. Maybe. It actually uses a counter on the CPU chip, so I'm not sure if the emulation will do that correctly.
