“This is the first study of vision in which neural activity has been recorded at cellular resolution across the entire visual cortex”.

They “imaged neuronal activity in eight neocortical areas concurrently and over five days in mice performing a visual discrimination task, yielding longitudinal recordings of more than 21,000 neurons.” Statistical assessment of activity between areas of the brain and moving from one area to another, but maybe some interesting clues. Peaks of redundancy (their term, Martin) suggest processing through a large number of input functions, quickly narrowed.
