On the morning of the 2008 CSG conference closing,

I want to send this quick and brief report of a very successful event.

Wish you were here.

A few of the conference activities included a Wednesday night discussion introduced by Bill Powers which included a discussion of differences in PCT and MOL, including a long conversation on emotion. Thursday included Rick Marken’s paper on “Doing Research On Purpose”, Sarah Goldstein’s discussion of raising her children in light of Franz Plooij’s Wonder Weeks, Ted Cloak’s presentation on PCT and the OnGoing Evolution of Culture, and John White’s presentation of Forensic Psychology & PCT : PCT applied to an Endogamic, incestuous child rape case.

On Friday John White continued with the possibilities of using MOL in Hostage Negotiation Settings. Mike Mermel presented issues of communicating PCT with other scientific communities and with the various practitioner communities. In the evening we enjoyed a one and a half hour conversation with Tim Carey in Canberra about his new book, Hold That Thought: Two Steps to Effective Counseling and Psychotherapy Using the Method of Levels.

On Saturday Gary Padover reported on his work on using MOL in Family Therapy. Laura Miller and David Goldstein shared her experiences and his experiments and work with her life as a person with Synaesthesia.

In the evening a productive Business meeting was held. We began planning for a 2010 CSG conference and hoped that Tim Carey will be able to arrange for a 2009 conference in Australia. We agreed that the second two weeks in July were optimal for attracting participants. PLEASE mark your calendars for those two last weeks of July, 2010 for attending our next U.S. CSG conference.

There will be a more detailed report of the Business Meeting before the end of this month.

Respectfully,

Lloyd

PS I hope other participants of this conference who are also on the CSGnet will correct and expand on this brief report.
