Its hard to tell whether the flight control study you mention is a control study
of flight, or of communications. If it is of communications, I wonder whether
there is sufficient understanding of what is involved to support a solid control
theory design.
It occurs to me that there are studies of animal behavior in zoos that might be
relevant to your interests. The ones I've seen don't use a control theory
analysis of the abnormal behavior. However, it might be possible to infer what
the animals were finding it impossible to control for and as a result they are
reorganizing and exhibiting dysfunctional behaviors.
