since all seems quite i figured this quip might
fill some space.
and systems taught by the once resident infidel dr.bourbon,
i have noticed another long standing contraversy that seems
to be resolved by pct--vitalism vs. mechanism.
for those not familiar with the contraversy here's the most basic
points. vitalism argues that animals are dinstinct creations
whose behaviors can not be reduced to mere mechanisation.
mechanism posits life to be subject to all the laws of nature and
amenable to reduction as an machine however complex. the last
position has been the one historically accepted--excepting
the humanist counter movement--with help from william harvey's
pump analogy, decartes's clock metaphor, borelli's limbs as lever
systems, and a bunch of other things. anyway, in the tradition
of marken's three blind men, pct seems to account for by CORRECTING.
organisms are machines, but a distinct variety with distinct
properties--negative feedback systems!
o.k., it was just a quip, not epiphany.
