[From Bill Powers (2009.10.08.1712 MDT)]
I have placed all the demo programs for LCS3 (PCs only) on a web page at
This page contains a link (in Step 1) for downloading an entire folder in self-extracting zipped form, plus cookbook instructions for what to do with it. I advise printing the page before downloading so the instructions will be handy. The programs are copyrighted, and Bruce Abbott will soon be adding a Gnu Free Software notice to each program (the Delphi source code for all programs is provided). When you've followed all the instructions, an icon with a red ball on it will be seen on your desktop. Clicking it will bring up a menu that you can use to run any of the 13 programs. You don't need to compile the source code -- that's just for nerds. Click and run.
Most of the programs have instructions in them that you can view by clicking a button. They're pretty minimal but may help the user at least to figure out some of what the demos are about. The book is organized around these demos and of course deals with them in considerable detail.
At the end of the page is a link to the Benchmark site (my publisher). At last viewing, it connects to a Benchmark shopping system, but will soon connect instead to Amazon and Barnes & Noble. However, Fred Good at
will give discounts to CSG members. Email him for details.
My publisher is working on publish-on-demand to handle overseas purchases of LCS3. I'll let you-all know when that happens.
Best,
Bill P.
