Promoting PCT :)

[From Dag Forssell (2014.09.28 20:55 PDT)]
I heard from Bart Madden in early 2005. He corresponded with Powers and we have been in touch from time to time. Bart has been lurking on CSGnet all along.
Bart’s website is http://www.learningwhatworks.com/
Bart’s 2010 book Wealth Creation: A Systems Mindset for Building and Investing in Businesses for the Long Term included a brief discussion of PCT.
Bart has just published Reconstructing Your Worldview: The Four Core Beliefs You Need to Solve Complex Business Problems. PCT is one of the four.

You can check it out, with “Look inside” at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/098859692X/livicontsystp-20/

This work includes an entire chapter on PCT. Bart submitted his MS to Gary Cziko, Hugh Petrie and Kent McClelland. All provided strong endorsements of the whole book and the way it provides context for PCT – rightly so.

The book is already available as paperback. It will shortly be available for Kindle and as hardcover.

I just read the book yesterday.

Not only is the book excellent, but of great interest is the fact that Bart will promote it. He is planning full page ads in six business/education/critical thinking magazines, including the Harvard Business Review.

](http://www.learningwhatworks.com/papers/4464_BartMadden_ReconstructingYourWorldview_FullPageAds_No_1.pdf)Bart has made a presentation at DePaul University and will link to that in his ad, as soon at the presentation becomes available on YouTube.

Bart will be sending hard copies to the top 150 business school deans worldwide and hard copies to influential people who write blogs, etc.

I find this so exciting I can hardly stand it

The PCT literature is solid, with LCS IV coming before long. Rupert Young is pointing out that PCT applies to robotics. Tim, Warren, and Sara are getting more and more traction in psychotherapy.

All these developments stand to provide the tipping point that puts PCT on the proverbial map at long last.

(Leaving tomorrow morning with granddaugher Annika for a four day school field trip. Back late Thursday.)

Best, Dag

DF: I heard from Bart Madden in early 2005. He corresponded with Powers and we have been in touch from time to time. Bart has been lurking on CSGnet all along.

RM: I received a copy of Bart’s book a couple days ago and just started reading it. I’ve corresponded and met with Bart but I was unaware of his correspondence with Bill Powers. I plan to post a review of Bart’s book “Reconstructing Your Worldview” as soon as I finish it.

RM: In the meantime I wonder if it would be possible for us to see whatever correspondence exists between Bart and Bill. If Bart is lurking and see this post I would appreciate it if you could tell us whether you have some of your correspondence with Bill and, if so, whether you are willing to make it available to the Powers archive at Northwestern. I’m copying this to Allie Powers (Bill’s daughter) who is assembling the archive. If you can contribute some of Bill’s correspondence to you to the archive please let Allie know. Also, Allie, I wonder if you have come across any of Bill’s side of the correspondence with Bart Madden?

RM: Anyway, I hope to have a review of Bart’s book ready by the end of the week.

Best regards

Rick

I ordered Madden's book; it arrived and I've started reading it; naturally,
I read the PCT chapter first. It's nicely done.
