Purpose

Purpose, or human intent can only be known ( to the extent it can ever be known ) by observing someone’s behavior. In doing the Test, we are observing ( listening ) to the behavior ( words ) to see if the person produces a center set of words. Perceptions of course are what we use and need to formulate these intentions and our intentions are created, and modified by the hierarchy and control process. But to imply that perceptions are more important then behaviors is making a big mistake for anyone interested in human interaction. In the HPCT model, one affects the other. Yes, in ways, that others do not understand. But to diminish the importance of it is to diminish the importance PCT plays in human interaction. Can anyone else see this?

Both perceptions and behaviors are important. As Bill said you can’t predict any specific action from a perception. I will add you cannot predict a single perception from a behavior. Both Powers and Argyris say this. Knowing intent ( to the extent it can be known ), i.e. perceptionS, is critical in certain circumstances. At other times it is not.
