I must be mad to introduce another thread just now, but here is the
revised “reorganization and evolution” paper. I wrote it as a
stand-alone paper but it could easily become the jumping-off chapter of a
book in which other contributors added their bits, or best of all brought
in their knowledge of evolution to test the theory. The paper contains a
revision of the theory of reoranization, two steps ahead and half a step
back as you will see at the end.
Anybody want to come aboard for this?

A friend brought my attention to reorganization, and as I strove to
answer, I realized that I never followed through on Bill’s request for a
diagram update, dated 10:08 AM 8/17/2009 and [From Bill Powers

updated diagram has been posted at

bill,
i would greatly appreciate the chapter on “reorg and evol. (revised)”. in my own way of reorganizing my approach to psychotherapy and integrating mol and pct into my conceptual foundation, understanding, and practice, i have emersed myself in the writings of dawkins and dennett in the areas of darwin and evolutionary psychology. could you kindly email me another copy of reorg. and evol. chapter, since when i go to download it, nothing appears.
at this stage in my career, i am so grateful to you bill, david, and csgnet for the discussion of ideas both explicit and implicit related to pct, which you founded bill, as well as tim carey and associates in australia and william mansell in u.k., who have elaborated upon and applied pct to psychotherapy through mol.
i have been applying them more rigorously in my private practice, as well as looking to write in the field of family therapy. i have been inspired by you and the others as well as my own personal and professional long term goal of attaining a diplomate in family psychology. at this stage of my career, there is no telling where my reorganization process will lead me. i find that most exciting and rewarding.
thank you again and best wishes,
gary padover

You mean data? We don’t need no stinkin’ data;-)

Oh, and here’s the second in the series “Literary lovers of data” (the first was Emily Dickenson; this one, of course, is that other astonishingly brilliant Bill, the Bard of Avon.
Experience, oh, thou disprovest report!
Cymbeline IV, ii, line 34
In this case, “report” means something like “rumor”, which is pretty much what an untested theory is.

Bill, I think your post, referenced below, may be worth considering for incorporation into your paper on Reorganization and Evolution. Seems to me the observations about neuron connections developing, organizing and disappearing provides support.

Nature (29 January 2009) has some articles of interest to PCTers.
Also of possible interest: [From Bill Powers (2008.07.06.1945 MDT)]
To find these, I searched the CSGnet archive 2008 and 2009 for Powers [and] neurons.
