Tom's reply (941021.1546) failed to mention his earlier post (941019.1301) in
which he admitted to having completely misunderstood my intention in modeling
the pigeon as a probabilistic response generator.
Tom, by "failed" I didn't mean to imply any duplicity on your part; it was
just that from Dennis's question I was not certain that he had read your
earlier post, and I wanted him to interpret your post to him in that context.
Regarding my understanding of PCT, please don't hesitate to point out where
you think I've got it wrong. I take this forum as a way to correct whatever
errors I may be harboring with respect to PCT and to learn how to construct
proper computer PCT models. The way to learn is to state some line of
reasoning and then have some very patient expert show you where you went
astray. Another way is to ask questions to which you think you have the
answers and then see whether the experts' answers agree--that was the point of
my Rescorla-Wagner exercise which, by the way, I still need to follow up on.
I'll try to do that soon.
