Fred, do you think any scientist should have fans, like an

entertainer or a sports hero? I don’t. Wearing my “Scientist” hat, I
would hope to have critics a-plenty, who would make me re-think just
about anything I claim. I wouldn’t be averse to having students ask
questions that have made them think and might make me think. But
fans, who think I am right all the time? No, that I would not wish
on any scientist.
