One suggestion: in the following:
I can personally confirm that I do _feel_ like I am free to do what
I want; I feel like I am in control of what I do. But I also feel
like I am standing on the flat surface of a stationary earth.
... I suggest changing each "like" to "that." "I feel like a human
being," but "I feel that I am a human being."
