About this time of the year, Gobble, Gobble is on our minds. And, thoughts
of feeding the hungry and raising taxes on the rich to do so abound with some
folks...
I don't think this kind of stuff of disparaging giving to the poor and taking
care of the "little children" of socieity belongs on the list. I don't think
that Kenny is being true to Jesus when he spouts stuff like this and his hate
speech about GLBT people. I don't think that Kenny is gracious when he speaks
against the bible. I don't think that Kenny is gracious when he speaks against
the Qur'an. I don't think that Kenny is gracious when he speaks against the best
of the Torah and Talmud. By saying the things he says. (See, Jesus, Mohammed and
Hillel all value taking care of the poor, so Kenny is going against all of
them.)
I think it is extremely disingenuous when Kenny speaks ill of GLBT people,
whoever they may be, and of the poor, whoever they may be. I think that Kenny is
more in keeping with the Pharisees whom Jesus despised, when he says things like
this.
We share in the common good, with family, friends, co-citizens, and even with
enemies. We contribute taxes to the government because, while there are many
abuses (Abramoff, DeLay, Hastert, Rumsfeld, Bush, Cheney type stuff) government
is generally better than no government.
I think that Kenny needs to move to Beirut, Baghdad or Moscow to see a state
without government. If he is lucky he can get as rich as a Halliburton
contractor before someone offs him in the middle of the night.
Done. Seriously, there is a warped atmosphere in Christian America, but it is
turning around, and soon we will get back to the Red Words. Until then, let the
ministers, lobbyists, and libertarians in the back woods stew in their own
juices. And after Jan 1, 2007 we can get to the work of dismantling this
horrorshow of fascist legislation and take back the US Constitution for REAL
Americans.
