  • -revised post:
    Dear CSG Friends:

This email is for anyone interested in the CSG Conference planned for August 3-6, 2017 at Northwestern University.

Because of the limited number of people who have registered to attend, we are intending to hold an alternative, smaller, two day conference (including an official Annual CSG Meeting and election of officers) to be held Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5, 2017.

Tentative schedule:

Friday 8:30 or 9:00 Breakfast and Opening Meeting

11:00 or so Visit the archives

12:30 or 1:00 pm Lunch and possible PCT presentations/discussions with local faculty & students

Saturday Annual Meeting - a day of deciding the status and future of the Control Systems Group

9:00-10:30 11:00-12:30 3:00-5:00 7:00 Closing Supper

Bill Powers’ daughters, Allison and Barbara, have devoted a considerable amount of time and energy organizing this meeting after canvassing interest among CSG past members a year ago. Some thirty persons indicated an interest at that time, but only eight of you have actually sent in a registration (Eight have also sent a clear reply of not being able to attend). Hence, a decision was made to host a smaller event.

Based on our Bylaws on Membership* and the fact that we will do everything possible to make the conference electronically and telephonically attendable, IF you pay your dues before the meeting, you will be a member and are welcome to participate and vote on the future of CSG.

Current membership is $60 annually, $30 for students. Membership duration: July 1, 2017-June 30, 2018. All who become or renew as members before the meeting will be eligible to vote at the meeting.

Send note to become member with your check for $60 or $30 to Dr. Richard S. Marken, 10459 Holman Ave, Los Angeles CA 90024-6012

OR

ABA routing number (for domestic wires): 121000248 SWIFT/BIC number (for international wires): WFBIUS6S

Bank: Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. - 420 Montgomery - SanFrancisco, CA 94104 - 1 800 225-5935

Account: 8479248000 The Control Systems Group

Please email lloydk@klinedinst.com AS SOON AS YOU DECIDE if you will attend such a smaller gathering physically, electronically or telephonicaly. We estimate the cost would be around $200 for physical attendance - in addition to travel and room costs.

Thank you in advance for your response.

Sincerely,

CSG Board of Directors

Fred Good, President Lloyd Klinedinst, Vice-President Richard D. Marken, Secretary-Treasurer

Hi Lloyd,

With the shorter format for the CSG meeting, I cannot justify the time & expense of traveling to Chicago. Sorry. I don’t really know how to participate electronically. Maybe once LCS-IV comes out, there may be renewed focus for convening next year.

All the best,

Erling
