Barb; I look forward to having access to the
archive.

                As

for having a CSG meeting at/near Northwestern, great
idea! But is there anyone in the vicinity who would
be willing to do the groundwork?

Good morning... I just got off

the phone with the archivist, Kevin Leonard, at
Northwestern University. The latest update on the
archive project is that it is very nearly ready,
basically usable. They are fine-tuning at this point
before “going live.”

                      There will be an online

index by which you may search for items. Then
a request may be made for them to pull and
scan the document. There will be some
limitations as to availability, dependent in
part on whether it is being used for research,
or intended to be part of another
publication. For the most part, quotes or
parts of publications may be fairly readily
available. Release of entire papers or
publications will require permission from a
family member. That process will be made
known when the archives are officially
available.

                      Kevin also mentioned they

have found a number of other references to Dad
in other archives at the university, in the
course of organizing his work. I know there is
information on a few of his patents, as well
as references to his days working with J.
Allen Hynek at the observatory. I’m curious
to see what else is there!

                      I'm also wondering if there

is interest among you to start thinking about
a csg conference in the Chicago area, either
at or near the university, perhaps next spring
or fall. I liked Rick’s idea to have a crash
course in PCT for newbies, and other ideas
would of course be welcome. By the time we put
something together, we’d be able to access
papers in the archive room on campus.

At any rate, this is very

exciting, to know all those many files and
boxes of papers will be safely and neatly
stored for all time! Stay tuned for another
update in the near future…

Thanks, Barb; I look forward to having access to the archive.

As for having a CSG meeting at/near Northwestern, great idea! But is there anyone in the vicinity who would be willing to do the groundwork?

Good morning… I just got off the phone with the archivist, Kevin Leonard, at Northwestern University. The latest update on the archive project is that it is very nearly ready, basically usable. They are fine-tuning at this point before “going live.”

There will be an online index by which you may search for items. Then a request may be made for them to pull and scan the document. There will be some limitations as to availability, dependent in part on whether it is being used for research, or intended to be part of another publication. For the most part, quotes or parts of publications may be fairly readily available. Release of entire papers or publications will require permission from a family member. That process will be made known when the archives are officially available.

Kevin also mentioned they have found a number of other references to Dad in other archives at the university, in the course of organizing his work. I know there is information on a few of his patents, as well as references to his days working with J. Allen Hynek at the observatory. I’m curious to see what else is there!

I’m also wondering if there is interest among you to start thinking about a csg conference in the Chicago area, either at or near the university, perhaps next spring or fall. I liked Rick’s idea to have a crash course in PCT for newbies, and other ideas would of course be welcome. By the time we put something together, we’d be able to access papers in the archive room on campus.

At any rate, this is very exciting, to know all those many files and boxes of papers will be safely and neatly stored for all time! Stay tuned for another update in the near future…

That is excellent news, Barb!

Hi Bara,
We are on the same page since I had just emailed Rick suggesting we talk, after I get back home from Utah, about the possibility of pulling together a conference. So, that is really great that you heard from Kevin - I had been wondering where things were at with the archives.

Thanks!
Allie

Also, I realized next spring is busy for our family, so I wonder how Fall of 2017 might sound.

Excellent! I’m happy to know there is growing interest! Yes, Vyv, it would be open to all. And John, we had the neighborhood of September 2017 in mind. Good point.

It has been a fairly standard conference format in the past. A nominal fee, main sessions with speakers (and food!), some breakout groups, and an activity or two of interest. We’ll gather information about hotels, group rates, etc.

I need to get together with Allie and Alice to work out our game plan. It seem far off, but there’s much to do. Please watch for further emails.

Thank you!

Â

Thanks, Barb; I look forward to having access to the archive.

Â

As for having a CSG meeting at/near Northwestern, great idea! But is there anyone in the vicinity who
would be willing to do the groundwork?

Â

Good morning… I just got off the phone with the archivist, Kevin Leonard, at Northwestern University. The latest update on the archive project is that it is
very nearly ready, basically usable. They are fine-tuning at this point before "going live."Â

Â

There will be an online index by which you may search for items. Then a request may be made for them to pull and scan the document. There will be some limitations
as to availability, dependent in part on whether it is being used for research, or intended to be part of another publication. For the most part, quotes or parts of publications may be fairly readily available. Release of entire papers or publications will
require permission from a family member. That process will be made known when the archives are officially available.

Â

Kevin also mentioned they have found a number of other references to Dad in other archives at the university, in the course of organizing his work. I know there
is information on a few of his patents, as well as references to his days working with J. Allen Hynek at the observatory. I’m curious to see what else is there! Â

Â

I’m also wondering if there is interest among you to start thinking about a csg conference in the Chicago area, either at or near the university, perhaps next
spring or fall. I liked Rick’s idea to have a crash course in PCT for newbies, and other ideas would of course be welcome. By the time we put something together, we’d be able to access papers in the archive room on campus.

Â

At any rate, this is very exciting, to know all those many files and boxes of papers will be safely and neatly stored for all time! Stay tuned for another update
in the near future…

I would like to attend! Andrew - I’m in! Alice McElhone

Excellent! I’m happy to know there is growing interest! Yes, Vyv, it

would be open to all. And John, we had the neighborhood of
September
2017
in mind. Good point.

It has been a fairly standard conference format
in the past. A nominal
fee, main sessions with speakers (and
food!), some breakout groups, and
an
activity
or two of interest. We’ll gather information about hotels,

group

rates, etc.

I need to get
together with Allie and Alice to work out our game plan.

It

seem far off, but there’s much to do. Please watch for
further emails.

Thank you!

You
mean when it’ll be “Spring” for some of us, like around
September?

Yes, pencil me in
please.

Cheers

I’d love to meet you all for the
first time there and then. Alex

I’d
love to attend – is it open to anyone? What is the
usual
format of
these
events?

That sounds good to me,
too.

Kent

Fall of 2017 in
Wilmette, north of Chicago. Sounds good!

Allie and I had done some research last fall, and
there are several
good hotel possibilities with
breakfast and conference
accommodations, some
within walking distance of NU, some within easy
access (inside 20
minutes
driving). When we get to the point of discussing
an actual plan,
those

details can come together.

Also, I realized next spring is busy for our family, so I wonder how

Fall of 2017 might sound.
